ICL matches will now also be played in Ahmedabad
ICL matches would now be played in the city with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation deciding to give the Sardar Patel Stadium to Indian Cricket League (ICL) on 10-year lease. ICL will develop the stadium at the cost of Rs.10 crore. Besides it would pay a monthly rent of Rs. One lakh for the period.
The stadium would be given exclusively to ICL every year for four months – February, March, September and October. For the remaining period the AMC would lease it for other programmes.
Standing committee chairman Asit Vora said that ICL would develop the ground and the lightning system and prepare the stadium for international matches. To a question about cultural programmes being organized at the stadium, he said that care would be taken that there is no damage to the pitch.
He added that a proposal to develop a sports complex at the stadium was also being finalized.
